Miscellaneous critters seen on my walks


bunny in front of house ... very common throughout the area, but I didn't see any Jack Rabbits, just these bunnies.


dove seen in back yard ... also very common throughout the area


cactus wren on cactus


woodpecker on cactus (does that make him a cactuspecker?)

Saw tons of quail, but no pics 'cause they're too fast for me.
...



Finding such a lizard was one of the goals of my desert trek, and I was successful, but they're very skittish so I couldn't get close enough to get any really good pics.


If you look REALLY carefully, you can see a dune buggy in the middle of the first pic in the far middle of the large dirt area, and here's what my zoom lens did with it. This is not quite a fair representation, since the distance pic is reduced in size and the closeup is cropped and shows only the middle portion, so the zoom is really good but not quite as good as this makes it look.


In addition to the rabbit, lizard, dune buggy, and a great variety of birds, I also ran across clear signs of the increasingly rare Desert Realtor (Realatorus arid)
